Join us for this Vinyasa style class, which means “moving with the breath”. Classic yoga poses are incorporated with a strong focus on mobility. To facilitate recovery from the hard work our bodies are put through in other classes, this class is taught at a slower pace with longer held poses than traditional Vinyasa style.
This type of yoga is your body’s time to restore and recover physically and mentally. Restorative yoga aims to create the conditions for you to be able to truly rest by tapping into your parasympathetic nervous system–what is usually referred to as a ‘rest and digest’ state–where your body starts to conserve energy and slow your heart rate as opposed to when you are more active. During restorative yoga, you’ll be able to achieve this state using certain postures and props to get you there. The poses you’ll be in are not active like ‘Warrior 2’, for example. The poses are closer to ‘Savasana’ and held for 2-10 minutes.
